Wildfire Update from US Forest Service at 8:30am:
The Forest Service reported “minimal growth overnight on the 1.5-acre Meadow Creek Fire west of Frisco, with frost helping hold the line. Crews will continue building and strengthening the fireline today. Burned trees that can fall (called snags) are a safety concern firefighters will be watching for along the line. Smoke may impact I-70 today, so drivers are urged to be alert and slow down. Trails in the area, Meadow Creek and North Tenmile, remain closed.”

Wildfire Update from US Forest Service at 7:00pm:
The Forest Service reported “crews have stopped the growth of the 1.3-acre Meadow Creek Fire west of Frisco. They will continue to secure the fireline around the fire tomorrow.
Fire activity has diminished with the sun setting, but smoke is settling in the valley. Visibility may be impacted along I-70, so anybody traveling in this area needs to slow down and be alert. The Meadow Creek and North Tenmile trailheads are closed.
The fire is believed to be human-caused and is under investigation. Summit County and the Dillon Ranger District are in Stage 1 fire restrictions due to the dry conditions and high fire danger.”

Wildfire Update from US Forest Service at 5:00pm:
The US Forest Service is “working an approximate 1-acre fire west of Frisco near the Meadow Lake Trailhead in coordination with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Summit Fire & EMS, Red, White & Blue Fire Protection District, and Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.”
“The fire is in an accessible area that crews are able to reach. Currently there are no immediate threats to structures. The cause is under investigation. We will update as we get more information. Please stay clear of the trailheads in the area to give responders the room they need.”

Update October 23 at 4:45pm
This fire is in the National Forest. No structures are currently at risk and no evacuations are anticipated at this time. All further updates will come from the U.S. Forest Service – White River National Forest.
Wildfire North of I70
There is a wildfire north of I70 near exit 203. Summit Fire & EMS, Red White and Blue Fire, and the National Forest Service have all responded.
North Tenmile and Meadow Creek Trailheads are now closed.
Please do not call 911 for this fire.
Reminder: Summit County’s fire danger is very high, and there are Stage 1 fire restrictions in place prohibiting all open fires outside of permanent fire rings in designated campgrounds and for permitted backyard campfires with ember screens on them.
