The Town of Frisco Public Works Department, in conjunction with a third-party contractor, will begin lighting enhancement work at Meadow Creek Park on Monday, August 15, 2022. The work will involve excavating existing light posts and installing new posts and lighting and is expected to continue for several weeks.
The project is one element of the Neighborhood Parks Master Plan, adopted by the Frisco Town Council on October 8, 2019. The Parks Master Plan was born out of community feedback sought by the Town during the Master Planning process in the form of public meetings as well as through a community-wide survey. Participants and survey respondents identified safety, security and visibility at Meadow Creek Park as a priority. To address this, the Town of Frisco pruned and thinned trees in the landscape berm along Meadow Drive to increase visibility. In addition, an entrance path from the bike path to the park was added and the main entrance sign was relocated and cleaned up. This work was completed in 2021. The lighting project to take place is the next step in safety and visibility enhancements at Meadow Creek. The new lighting will be 100% solar powered, contributing to the Town’s ongoing sustainability goals, and will be the first fully solar-lit park in Frisco.
The park will remain open during the project, and the Town urges park users to exercise caution near the work areas and to avoid the immediate areas around work crews and heavy equipment.
