During their July 13, 2021 meeting, Frisco Town Council approved a contract with Tony O’Rourke, hiring him as Frisco’s Town Manager starting on August 2, 2021. Mr. O’Rourke brings over twenty years of leadership experience in mountain communities which have tourism based economies reliant on natural resources as foundational for their economy and quality of life, including Beaver Creek, Colorado; Canon City, Colorado; and South Lake Tahoe, California. Mr. O’Rourke’s work experience also includes leadership roles in City of Panama City Beach, Florida; Yakima, Washington; and Coral Springs, Florida.
During Mr. O’Rourke’s career, he has guided communities through many projects while respecting and finding the harmony between their sense of community and environmental stewardship within a thriving tourist based economy. Mr. O’Rourke has also led programs which attracted and retained a high quality workforce; developed quality affordable housing supply and mix; generated a more balanced and diverse year-round economy; created vibrant cultural, arts, and recreation opportunities and facilities; achieved wildfire mitigation; and forged public-private partnerships.
“During the Town’s in depth vetting process, it became very clear that Mr. O’Rourke brings the experience, as well as a bold sense of innovation and creativity, which will serve Frisco very well as we tackle a slate of issues that are foundational to quality of life and community in Frisco,” stated Mayor Hunter Mortensen.
“Mr. O’Rourke has also exhibited a high level of integrity and ethics in his professional life, acting on a willingness to do the right thing above all. We count ourselves as very fortunate to find a Town Manager whose experience, innovative thinking, and integrity align with Frisco’s values and goals.”
In May 2021, Frisco Town Council appointed Jeff Durbin as the interim Town Manager, and Town Council is thankful to Mr. Durbin for his service and commitment to Frisco during this period of transition. Going forward through August 1, 2021, Diane McBride, Assistant Town Manager and Recreation & Culture Director, will serve as the acting Town Manager.
