The Planning division processes and reviews everything from sign and banner permits, to deck and hot tub additions, to large scale, multi-family and commercial developments. Planners work closely with the Building Division from the beginning of projects to completion to ensure it meets the Town’s zoning and safety requirements. Planners also serve the Planning Commission in an advisory role for projects and various other Planning Division activities.
The Town of Frisco, Colorado Planning division is part of the Community Development department and works closely with the Building Division on all levels of construction, small to large. Projects must go through Planning and Building Division review and approval.
In the summer of 2018, the Town of Frisco launched a comprehensive process with the community to update the Town’s Master Plan, also known as the “Frisco Community Plan.” The Community Plan serves as the overarching policy document for the Town. The plan articulates the shared vision and values of the community and identifies strategic actions necessary for implementation. The plan was last updated in 2011 and is required by the Town Charter to be updated every five years.
2015 Land Use Profile
The 2015 Land Use Profile correlates closely with several of the quality of life direction statements from the 2011 Frisco Community Plan. This study assists the Frisco community, Town Council, Planning Commission, and staff with understanding future development. It also assists the Town in making informed decisions to ensure the appropriate levels of services are in place for the future while considering the impact of changing demographics and economic trends.

What projects has the Planning department recently approved?
In accordance with the Town of Frisco’s Unified Development Code §180-2.3.7.C, Notice of Decisions, a written notice of decision must be prepared and be available for review by the public within 10 days of the date of decision. A list of approved planning applications can be found on the following log, which is updated weekly:

Absolutely! A pre-application meeting that brings all relevant agencies together to discuss your project is helpful to make projects run smoothly. These meetings include Community Development department staff (Planning and Building), Public Works, Frisco Sanitation, and Summit Fire & EMS.
